Our Story
Our founder made the switch from synthetic fragrances to essential oils while making DIY self-care products at home, and couldn’t go back. What began in her kitchen is now Pao Apothecary: a collection of clean, natural wellness products powered by nature and Haitian botanicals.
Everything we develop follows a function-first perspective—because “smells nice” matters only when it supports “works well.” Founded by an epidemiologist and public health advocate, we are rooted in the belief that women, especially BIPOC women, deserve radical self-care. That means radical transparency, too.
We believe knowledge is power, and you deserve to know exactly what goes on and in your body. That’s why we use only high-quality, natural ingredients —chosen for safety, effectiveness, and integrity — and stay away from harsh chemicals and fragrances.
Our founder runs The Well-being Files, a wellness blog that translates research into practical guidance for your self-care journey. No wellness BS, but honest breakdowns.
Every blog post is grounded in peer-reviewed research and written with the same rigor we bring to formulating our products.
Most of our products use natural ingredients sourced directly from local farming communities in Haiti. Particularly products with Haitian botanicals such as castor oil, vetiver, jasmine, and rose, some of the most prized botanicals in the world. Working with the communities that grow them is the only sourcing practice that makes sense for who we are.
Every wellness post shared is grounded in studies carefully reviewed. Every product is handcrafted with intention and formulated for maximum therapeutic benefit.
